Date: 1941 or later
A loading ramp was added, possibly by the Army, to the rear main wing (Also see drawing - 9001 Changes for WWII Radar Development 1941). The ramp starts at the inside rear of the east wing at truck tailgate height (Photo No. 22). It slopes downward, and makes an inside corner bend, leading to a set of rear basement double doors. A pipe rail protects persons from falling into the lower portion of ramp. At the bottom of the ramp, a single drain is filled with debris and causes basement flooding (Photo No. 23). The drain normally empties into the sewer system that was removed causing more flooding (Photo No. 24). The doors were kicked in resulting in damage to the hinges and lock-bolt.

Proposed Work
As soon as possible, replace sewer service, clear drain, get sump pump
service restored and repair double doors during Phase I; preserve ramp
in-place; examine railing for strength and paint. If possible, alter
center portion of ramp to allow wheelchair and walker access to basement.
