Date: 1982
The interiors of all sections of 9037 were completely renovated in 1982. They still have a center hall running the length of the sections with offices and laboratories on both sides of hall. All interior partition walls were removed and replaced by a flexible wall partition system. The system consists of factory made 18" wide and 8-foot tall panels. The panels are manufactured with a vinyl washable coating. The panels are engineered to create a partition wall without using metal wall studs. The panels are screw-nailed to floor and ceiling rails. Custom metal spacers are used between sets of panels (Photo No. 95). Standard door frames were added as desired. In three rooms, computer support raised floors are found. One of these raised floor rooms is constructed as a special 'EMI' protection vault. It has a large door, which looks like a bank vault door (Photo No. 96) and special shielding in the wall. There are some damaged (Photo No. 97) panels between two rooms.

Proposed work
During Phase IV, prepare space for flexible use of future Infoage science-history center programs and near-term short-term event rental. A number of small rooms would be opened, creating larger rooms, by the selective removal of partition walls. Consideration has been given to creating classroom size spaces for local school group special program use and evening use by the adjacent community college. By removing three partitions in Sections A and B sixteen flexible spaces can be created (see Drawing 9037A/B Existing Conditions and Proposed Changes). In sections C and D nine very large flexible spaces can be created by removing eleven partitions (see Drawing 9037C/D Existing Conditions and Proposed Changes). The large computer room raised floor spaces would be maintained for near-term short-term lease and future science-center computer technology exhibits and operations. Upgrade restrooms as per ADA standards. Add exit signs and fire alarms as per current fire code.
