8.39 Laboratory General Purpose Foundry (Building 9097)

 Architectural Feature: Exterior
 Date: 1949

Building 9097 is a 20' x 42' corrugated metal, steel frame, rectangular building with a seamed gable roof with vents (Photo No. 128).  It has five three over three steel frame windows and two sets of double doors.  One door has been torn off its hinges.  Its interior is a single room (Photo No. 129) with a concrete floor.  The furnace exhaust hood remains.  This building was used a foundry producing many prototype parts for advanced radar weapon systems.  These parts were then tested in other parts of the Camp.

Photos: 128 and 129.

Proposed work

Paint exterior, repair door and window damage during Phase I. This building will be used by Infoage as a welding and fabrication shop for hands-on science exhibits constructed in-house.  Little work will be needed to continue using this building as a shop.
