8.41 Electrical Power Switch Station (Building 9114)

Architectural Feature: Exterior
 Date: 1944

Located along the east fence line next to the electrical substation is the switch station, building 9114 (Photo No. 82).  The building rests on concrete piers.  The building is 19' 6" x 36' 6" with shiplap siding and a gable roof.  The building has single and double metal doors and a small square hinged window.  A sign reads "DANGER". This building is in excellent condition.  The building houses electrical switching equipment for the distribution of site power.  Due to PCB contamination found near the building the surrounding area has been considerably altered (Photo No. 207).

Proposed work

During Phase I, repaint this building. The equipment housed in this building is required for power distribution.  At this time the Fort Monmouth BRAC office is reviewing plans to modify the electrical system to remove PCBs found in soil near the electrical substation.
